The selection / Replacement specification
Custom wood window & door replacement
A replacement wood window should carry the proportions of the house into the next chapter. Specify sash thickness, mouldings, divided lights and finish together. For coordinated doors, record arches, surrounds and clearances before selecting the assembly.
Book a home visitPriced per opening, in a written proposal after we have measured the house.
The specification
What to consider
- Frame depth and sash profiles need to relate to the existing trim, masonry and adjacent openings.
- Wood species, exterior finish and any cladding must be confirmed for the selected product line.
- Arched openings and decorative door lights need measured drawings rather than nominal sizes.

Questions
Questions owners ask
Can a new wood window follow an existing profile?
Custom profiles may be available, depending on the manufacturer and product line. Existing sections and drawings help establish what can be produced and where differences need to be agreed.
Can oak or an arched entry be specified?
Discuss the species and opening geometry during the visit. Availability, construction and the final design must be confirmed for the selected supplier before ordering.
Which wood species do you specify?
Species is chosen per house — commonly white oak, mahogany or Douglas fir — based on exposure, finish and the profile it needs to hold. The choice is written into the proposal.
Can an entry door be replaced with the windows?
Yes. Doors and windows can share a species, finish and hardware family so the façade reads as one specification.
