The selection / Replacement specification
Steel window replacement
Replacement steel windows should fit the architecture, not just the opening. Compare frame sections, thermal-break options, glass specifications and operating hardware, with a measured installation plan before ordering.
Book a home visitPriced per opening, in a written proposal after we have measured the house.
The specification
What to consider
- Frame and sash sightlines determine how much glass is visible and how a grouped casement reads from the street.
- Thermally broken and non-thermally broken systems differ; compare the documentation for the specific system proposed.
- Frame depth, anchorage, sill drainage and perimeter flashing must suit the existing wall construction.
Materials & methods
The new assembly.
A considered specification.
Compare sash and frame widths, mullion positions and glazing area. The replacement should be considered against the whole façade, with section drawings before ordering.

Questions
Questions owners ask
Can new steel windows suit a Tudor house?
Yes, with careful specification. Frame profiles, mullion spacing and glass patterns should be compared with the existing façade; not every steel system has the same proportions.
Are all steel windows thermally broken?
No. Ask for the exact system specification and published whole-window performance figures. A steel appearance alone does not establish a thermal break or a performance rating.
Can new steel casements match the narrow lines of the originals?
Often, yes. We compare face widths, mullion depths and muntin sizes from the survey against each system’s published sections before recommending one.
Will steel replacement windows need review in a historic district?
Possibly. Designation and scope decide it, so confirm with the local authority before ordering. We supply sections and drawings to support that conversation.
